NEWS: ASUU SET TO SUSPEND LONG TIME STRIKE AS FG BEGINS PAYMENT OF WITHHELD SALARIES.
Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is set to finally call off its long term strike as the Federal Government of Nigeria have begin paying withheld salaries of workers.
The government and ASUU have been at loggerheads over the reopening of public universities in the country.
Both parties have held series of meetings but failed to reach a conclusion for ASUU to call off the ongoing strike since February 2020.
The payment of arrears remained the most contentious issue without agreement between the government and ASUU.
As it stands things seems to have finally been sorted out.
ASUU via it official Twitter account some minutes ago disclosed that Federal Government have begin the payment of the withheld salaries and so the strike might be suspended in the next coming days.
